Internship Program

OVERVIEW

The HeCares Internship Program offers a unique, hands-on learning experience for anyone interested in exploring a career in healthcare. Interns gain direct exposure to integrative medicine by shadowing experienced practitioners and assisting with day-to-day clinic operations. Through this program, participants experience the full spectrum of patient care—from front desk responsibilities and clinical preparation to observing treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, and tuina massage. Interns also develop professional skills including patient communication, clinical documentation, and teamwork in a supportive, real-world environment. Designed to provide valuable insight into both the clinical and business sides of healthcare, this internship equips aspiring healthcare professionals with practical knowledge and experience to guide their future careers.

PROGRAM Objectives

  • Introduce the principles and clinical applications of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including acupuncture and herbal therapy — a rapidly growing field in complementary and integrative healthcare.
  • Provide firsthand observation of how TCM is applied to treat a wide range of conditions such as sports injuries, pain, internal disorders, pediatrics, fertility, dermatological issues, and urgent care needs.
  • Offer an immersive experience in a multidisciplinary clinic environment, where integrative medicine practitioners collaborate across specialties to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Teach students how to communicate with patients in a respectful, compassionate, and professional manner, especially those seeking gentle yet effective care.
  • Guide students in developing teamwork skills essential for collaborating with peers and healthcare professionals in a dynamic clinical setting.
