Internship Program

OVERVIEW

The HeCares Internship Program offers a unique, hands-on learning experience for anyone interested in exploring a career in healthcare. Interns gain direct exposure to integrative medicine by shadowing experienced practitioners and assisting with day-to-day clinic operations. Through this program, participants experience the full spectrum of patient care—from front desk responsibilities and clinical preparation to observing treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, and tuina massage. Interns also develop professional skills including patient communication, clinical documentation, and teamwork in a supportive, real-world environment. Designed to provide valuable insight into both the clinical and business sides of healthcare, this internship equips aspiring healthcare professionals with practical knowledge and experience to guide their future careers.

PROGRAM Objectives

  • Introduce the principles and clinical applications of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including acupuncture and herbal therapy — a rapidly growing field in complementary and integrative healthcare.
  • Provide firsthand observation of how TCM is applied to treat a wide range of conditions such as sports injuries, pain, internal disorders, pediatrics, fertility, dermatological issues, and urgent care needs.
  • Offer an immersive experience in a multidisciplinary clinic environment, where integrative medicine practitioners collaborate across specialties to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Teach students how to communicate with patients in a respectful, compassionate, and professional manner, especially those seeking gentle yet effective care.
  • Guide students in developing teamwork skills essential for collaborating with peers and healthcare professionals in a dynamic clinical setting.
  • Present students with a forward-thinking, integrative healthcare model that challenges conventional norms — offering a disruptive and inspiring perspective for future career choices.

Program Requirements

The Internship Program is open to:
Middle school, high school, college, and medical school students
Allied healthcare professionals, including physicians

Applicants should demonstrate a sincere interest in integrative medicine and a willingness to participate respectfully in a clinical environment.

HeCares Global Medicine Immersion — China (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

As an extension of the HeCares Internship Program, participants are invited to join our HeCares Global Medicine Immersion in China, a unique international experience designed to explore the roots, practice, and living tradition of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

This immersive program offers students and interns an opportunity to engage directly with TCM education, clinical settings, and community medicine while experiencing Chinese culture and history firsthand.

Program Dates & Options

Participants may choose one or two weeks:
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Week 1: June 8–12, 2026
Week 2: June 15–19, 2026

Program Experience & Activities

Participants will engage in a thoughtfully curated week of educational, clinical, and cultural experiences, including:

  • Guided tour of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (LNTCM) and its affiliated teaching hospital
  • Visits to county-level TCM hospitals and research facilitiestings
  • Participation in village-level medical service, offering insight into community-based healthcare
  • Cultural immersion experiences in Shenyang, including visits to Beiling Park, The Old Palace, and , The Water Cave site
  • Observation of clinical treatments and educational demonstrations in real-world medical set

Throughout the program, participants will explore and reflect on:
Culture, language, medicine, food, humanity, and history, gaining a deeper understanding of how Traditional Chinese Medicine is practiced and lived within its cultural context. This international experience bridges East and West, connecting theory with clinical application and offering a rare, integrative perspective on medicine in practice.

$1,999 – One week
$2,999 – Two weeks

Local transportation (Shenyang ↔ village)
