Frank He, L.Ac, QME, DAOM

is the founder of both the HeCares Foundation and the HeCares Integrative Medicine Center. He first established the HeCares Center in 2001 as a multidisciplinary teaching clinic and then created the non-profit HeCares Foundation in 2018 to further his mission to elevate the standard of integrative medicine. He has been involved in medince his whole life, since his days in his home village, shadowing his grandfather’s TCM practice.

To deliver the best treatment for his patients, Frank’s techniques balance Traditional Chinese Medicine and contemporary Western Medicine. Frank’s practice and philosophy is driven by his love for sports and his passion for education.

FOUNDER

Hecares Integrative & Sports Medicine Center

Multidisciplinary teaching clinic that specializes in sports / auto / workplace injuries, EENT, and pain management. Works to provide a place for training physicians and acpuncturists in continuning education programs as well as Muscle Channel Technique and Subcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.


DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Five Branches University

June 1997 – May 2009

As department chair for two deparments, renovated core acupuncture curricula and established the university’s Acupuncture Department in 1998. Also founded the nation’s first Integrative Sports Medicine certification program.

Provided acupuncture to hundreds of stroke patients during rehabilitation and documented the clinical outcomes.

Master’s degree in Acupuncture, Neurology and Sports Medicine. Practiced at the affliate hospital at the university. Graduated Sum Cum Laude.

Academic Contributions

Frank has trained hundreds of Chinese medicine interns, doctoral fellows, and licensed clinicians from schools and medical groups around the world.

Frank is part of the core faculty of Five Branches University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz and San Jose, in both the Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM) and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) programs. He also served as Chair of the Acupuncture Department of Five Branches University.

Frank established the Five Branches Sports Injury Clinic and the affiliated Integrative Sports Medicine Certificate program for both DTCM and DAOM students. He has taught classes on orthopedics and neuromuscular medicine at Five Branches since 2006, and has trained members of the current teaching faculty.

Frank has taught his proprietary MCT / SENS sports medicine approach to orthopedic surgeons throughout Europe. He is currently a fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine and a diplomat of the College of Acupuncture and Neuromuscular Therapy. Since his move to the U.S., Frank has been lecturing in various states to licensed acupuncturists and other health care professionals. He was the keynote speaker for the 21st Symposium of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncturists in 2009.

HeCares Foundation

The HeCares Foundation works to build an educational institution that will provide didactic and clinical training to acupuncturists, physicians, and other allied healthcare practitioners to promote communication and understanding between health care providers of various specialties to improve patient care.
